About Dave
My full name is David Otto Peter Ostrowski. I was born and grew up in Michigan City, Indiana on the south shore of Lake Michigan about 35 miles east of Chicago across the water. I lived there until I went to college in Muncie, Indiana at Ball State University about 170 miles southeast of Michigan City. I taught English at Barker Junior High in my hometown for two years, met and married the love of my life and applied to graduate school at the University of Wyoming because I loved the West. I received my M.Ed. and took a job with the Jefferson County Schools in the western suburbs of Denver where our son was born. His encouragement and expertise are the reasons for this blog.
I’ve made my living as a Secondary English Teacher, Assistant Principal, Technical Writer, Course Designer, Systems Engineer, Logistics Engineer, and Corporate Trainer. I’ve worked in Secondary Education, Adult Education, Aerospace, Telecommunications, Computer and Network Technology, Medical Devices, and Cable Engineering.
I’ve been writing for fun since I walked to Queen of All Saints school composing poetry in my head. I published my first poems in college literary magazines. Most of my adult life has been spent making a living and supporting my family. So, creative writing has taken a 40-year hiatus. I finally have the time to write.
